Teen/Youth Ministry

At Central Baptist, we have a wonderful teen group! Our group has been faithfully lead by Jon and Jennifer Morbitzer since 2018. They are dedicated to teaching God's Word and connecting with our teens through numerous events throughout the year. Currently, the group is studying the gospels and highlighting the life of Christ. This summer, they will be helping with our Vacation Bible School.

Popcorn Testimony

Hello everyone, my name is Janie, and I want to share a brief testimony of how good God was to me through my college experience at Ohio Christian University. Growing up, I wanted to go to nursing school. I had a school picked out, and I knew what the requirements were to get into that school. However, my senior year of High School I felt God pulling me in a different direction and I felt called to be an elementary school teacher. It was a difficult decision, but I knew that God would bless my obedience to Him.

When I went to OCU, they needed a required ACT score to get into the education program and unfortunately, I did not have that specific test score. For a little over two years, I took the test repeatedly and continued to get one point below the requirement. I knew that education was what God was calling me into, but I did not understand why this huge obstacle was placed in the way of me moving forward in the program. It was terrifying to continually wonder what the near future would hold because I had no idea if I would ever pass the test. I felt so discouraged and became very anxious about it. It made me feel like maybe I was not cut out to be a teacher, like I was not intelligent enough for college, and I felt like maybe I made the wrong decision.  However, I knew that God would make a way through this if this was truly what he was calling me to do.

When I finally passed the test right before my junior year, the school dropped the requirement.  I wondered why God wanted me to experience that just for them to drop the requirement when I finally passed.  He was teaching me to wait for His timing and to be more patient. He tested me on how I would react to difficult trials in my life. From then on, I moved on in the program and I knew with my entire heart that this was exactly what God was calling me to do. I could not imagine doing anything else and I am glad that I stuck it out and waited for God’s timing. Recently, I graduated with honors from the program and am excited to become a teacher and to be able to pour into my future students and to represent Christ's love through my actions and through the way I carry myself.

Through this time, God was testing my faith and growing me as a person. I learned that he is always good, His timing is always perfect, and He can bring good out of suffering. This wasn’t the typical college experiment, but going back I would not change a thing. God has been so good to me!
