Popcorn Testimony

Hello, my name is Sophia Dixon and I am 20 years old. I would like to share my testimony of how Jesus Christ has changed my life. As I entered my teenage years, I started to face a lot of questions I wasn’t sure how to answer. The main question I faced was, “Who am I?” I was a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, but I wasn’t exactly sure who I was yet. Everyone told me that I’m a child of God, but I was still left confused as to what that meant or what it really looked like. I felt like I would never figure that out. Somewhere along the way, the enemy snuck this little lie into my mind and into my heart, “Do you really think God has forgiven you of your past and who you used to be?” I began to question who I was on a whole new level. I questioned Jesus’ forgiveness because the things I did were so awful. Was I worthy of the title, “Child of God?”

At the age of 16, I attended church camp with my youth group. Going into this week, I prayed so hard that I would finally see a breakthrough over this battle. During the mid-week church service, the pastor began to speak about the battles we face within ourselves. Every word spoke directly to my heart. I soaked in every word like a dry sponge thirsting for water. I had so much fear, guilt, shame, and regret. That night I went to the altar and surrendered my life to Jesus. I felt as Jesus Himself spoke to me saying, “You are mine.” In that moment, Isaiah 43:1 became my life verse. “But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by name: thou art mine.” Jesus told me exactly who I am. I am His and He has redeemed me!
